Epiq Systems Ranks in Top Five Electronic Discovery Service Providers for Corporations & Announces Shelf Registration
Press release, August 10, 2007: Fifth Annual 2007 Socha-Gelbmann Survey Reveals Corporations Increasingly Drive Market — Shelf Registration Provides Future Flexibility
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Epiq Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:EPIQ), a leading provider of technology solutions for the legal profession, today announced it placed in the top five service providers for corporations in the 2007 Socha-Gelbmann 5th Annual Electronic Discovery Survey.
“Corporation rankings” is a new focus this year for the survey reflecting the shift in influence in this market and the increased control corporations are taking in the eDiscovery process. Epiq’s recognition in the findings supports the company’s success in providing corporations and large law firms with the technology as well as service needed to increase the quality, overall experience and speed of responsiveness for each case.
The results identify providers that corporations “preferred and their perceptions of [the] quality of services and overall reputation,” highlighting how corporations are focusing on both service and software. As budgets tighten, enterprises are taking the reins and requiring comprehensive software and service solutions that save time and reduce costs.
“Corporations today are asserting increased control in eDiscovery and are seeking service providers who offer a holistic solution for the life cycle of an entire case,” said Tom W. Olofson, chairman/CEO and Christopher E. Olofson, president/COO of Epiq Systems. “We are pleased to gain additional recognition, and we continue to strengthen our eDiscovery offering.”
Epiq Systems continues to release new versions of its software to enhance its service and software offerings.
Socha-Gelbmann released its report in the August issue of Law Technology News and projected the eDiscovery market to reach $2.6 billion dollars in 2007, a 33% increase over 2006.
In a separate development, on August 7, Epiq Systems filed a shelf registration with the Securities Exchange Commission to support its long-term strategic expansion plans. While the company has no immediate acquisition opportunities that require raising capital, the shelf registration provides an attractive option and flexibility to manage our capital structure efficiently. The company continues to evaluate organic growth opportunities as well as areas for future acquisition.
