Sephardic Haroseth

Ingredients

Ingredients to chop

  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 1/2 cup raw pistachios, shelled
  • 20 dried apricots (5 ounces)
  • 10 dried black figs (2 1/2 ounces)
  • 10 prunes (3 ounces)
  • 10 pitted Medjool dates

Ingredients to toast

  • 1 tsp whole black peppercorns
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 4 pods green cardamon
  • 2 tbsps white sesame seeds

Additional ingredients

  • 1/2 cup pomegranate juice
  • 2 tbsps pomegranate molasses
  • 2 tbsps cinnamon
  • 2 tsps fine salt

Instructions

  • Toast almonds and set aside.
  • Finely chop toasted almonds, pistachios, apricots, figs, prunes, and dates. Combine.
  • Toast, separately, each of the following: peppercorns, garlic cloves, cardamom pods, and sesame seeds. Add to chopped ingredients.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Mix together.
  • Serve.
